‘Senior Moments’ Video Guidelines

Thank you for lending your voice to the Senior Moments campaign.
This movement is about redefining what a “senior moment” truly means — honoring wisdom, experience, and the stories that shape us.

Here’s how to get started:
Friends or family members may record on behalf of someone else (with their consent).

đŸ“č What to Share

Your video can be anything that reflects your story, personality, or perspective, including:

  • A personal story or reflection
  • A meaningful life lesson or piece of advice
  • A joke, poem, or song
  • A creative idea, talent, or insight
  • A message about aging, dignity, or connection across generations

🎬 Video Specs

  • Length: 30 seconds to 2 minutes
  • Format: MP4, MOV, or AVI preferred
  • Orientation: Landscape or portrait (either is fine)
  • Lighting: Natural or soft indoor lighting works best
  • Sound: Speak clearly and minimize background noise

💡 Submission Tips

  • Start by saying: “A senior moment to me means
”
  • Speak from the heart — no need for perfection
  • If filming someone else, make sure they’re comfortable and aware of the campaign’s purpose
  • Feel free to include props, pets, or anything that reflects your personality

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Why are you using the term ‘Senior Moments’?
A phrase often used to mock forgetfulness, “senior moment” has become a disrespectful, self-deprecating shorthand for aging. We’re here to change that by redefining it as a moment that honors the wisdom, experience, and insight that only a life well lived can offer.

I’m not a senior, can I still participate?
Yes. You don’t have to be a senior to participate. If your story reflects how an older adult influenced your life, shaped your future, or inspired you — your voice belongs in this movement.

Younger participants are also encouraged to help older adults share their stories, ask meaningful questions, and build real connections across generations.

How do I share my video?

  • Upload your video to YouTube, Google Drive, Dropbox, Vimeo, or a similar platform
  • Copy the share link and paste it into the submission form or email
  • If the file is too large, make sure your link is set to “Anyone with the link can view”
  • If you’re helping someone else, you can record and submit on their behalf

🌍 Get Involved

Want to go beyond sharing your story? Here are a few ways to support the movement:

  • Share videos with your friends, family, and community
  • Invite others to participate, especially older adults
  • Help someone record their story
  • Host a gathering to share stories and experiences
  • Connect us with organizations, schools, or community groups
  • Challenge ageism and help reframe the narrative

✹ About the Movement

Senior Moments is a growing global movement inviting people of all ages to share stories that honor the wisdom and lived experience of older adults.

Why is Wisdom of Age tackling this problem?

Wisdom of Age was founded on the belief that no number should define a person’s value, limit their potential, or prevent them from remaining active, relevant, and engaged.

We work with individuals and organizations to:

  • Educate communities about the impact and reality of ageism
  • Promote intergenerational connection and empowerment
  • Partner with civic and community leaders to expand inclusion and collaboration
