“Life is too short to be worried about the number on your driver’s license or the number on the scale.”
Candace, Age 45
My friend Candace shared this bit of wisdom with me. The older I get, the more I tend to agree. You might feel the same way.
After all, life really is too short. Why deny myself a few simple pleasures, particularly at this time of year, simply because I might feel a bit guilty come January?
Besides, there’s already more than enough intimidation to go around. Why add self-judgement to the mix? I would propose suspending all forms of holiday advertising that takes away from the enjoyment of guilty pleasures. I’m not ready to make promises that I can’t keep!
Here’s a bit of advice I found on how not to postpone joy:

If you’re still not sure what to eat, consider what your neighbors may be coming home to for the holidays.

With best wishes for a merry and joyful Chanukah and Christmas, let the New Year take care of itself.
